A Cry for Help – Shofar Mediation

I must admit that I did not listen to Rabbi Ari Shishler's entire sermon: I was quite incensed when I heard his application of the parable!
Perhaps, therefore, I should not have been so rash in my scathing first comment.

Thank you so much for your answer. I cannot disagree with your answer at all. I think I need to listen to the teaching once more to grasp what was said that is so disagreeable to you. I know that sometimes where "we" perceive that we disagree, is actually and only that the insight is another facet or depth of the same jewel. But, I do like your answer. Todah.

re The effect of the Shofar The effect of the Shofar:
First and foremost, as our Rabbis put it most succinctly, G-d has instructed us to blow the Shofar, therefore we blow; His reasons [and metaphysical or transcendental effects] are Infinite and beyond mortal intellect.
However, like every Mitsvah [commandment], the performance thereof automatically binds the person to G-d. The simple hearing and listening to the kol Shofar [voice of the shofar], which is a language of the soul, binds the person to their Creator, their Source, whether for the simple reason that it is a Mitsvah, or for the deeper, esoterical ramifications described in Zohar and Ari Haquodosh.

Whilst it may be true that knowledge and meditation on the effects of the mitsvah may increase a person's experience and level of love of G-d, etc, nonetheless the action of the Mitsvah per se binds the soul to G-d with the binding peculiar to that particular mitsvah, [perhaps similar to how eating a nutritious food will have an effect on the body . .] Reply

what? How dare he say what he says? How can he say w/out preparation, the Shofar will be etc
What /who gives him theses words to say and how dare he say them. What he says is without foundation!
Whether or not there is preparation, the Shofar has effect.
Obviously, if a person prepares themselves, there may be more chance thast the person may 'feel' something but regardless or not of what he feels, the Shofar affects.
I am surprised at chabad for letting this out. Reply
